Eco Bags At Rushfaster

Rushfaster.com.au, the leading online outlet for some of the world's most 'eco-friendly' bags, has gone one step further with the launch of the new cutting edge solar powered Voltaic Generator laptop bag.

Designed by the innovative US based company Voltaic Systems the bag uses a single solar panel to produce 14.7 watts of power which means laptop users can now unplug from the power grid and power up from the world's greatest source of natural energy - the sun.

This is enough energy to fully charge a typical laptop from a full day of sunlight and to virtually charge all other handheld electronics, according to Voltaic Systems CEO Shayne McQuade.

"We are consistently asked whether our bags charge laptops; now, with the upcoming release of the Generator, we are delighted to be in the position to say yes they can," McQuade said.

"There is clearly a critical need for backup and alternative power sources among laptop users - and we have, with this technology, answered those needs," he said.

The bag incorporates a battery pack custom designed to capture and store solar power - whether the sun is shining or not. Holding the equivalent of a full laptop charge it delivers the power at voltages required by laptops and other devices. Adaptors are included for simple connection to laptops, phones and universal plugs. The bags, stylishly designed, are constructed from recycled soda bottles (PET) which make the bags tough, water proof and UV resistant and have a protective frame. Even the solar panels come in four colour options - orange, silver, green and a discreet charcoal.

The generator bag [Australian price to be confirmed] joins the Voltaic solar powered messenger bag which, launched in 2004, has the ability to charge handheld electronic devices.

"It is environmentally intelligent design" McQuade said.

The Joy line of bags are made from Sorona - a non-oil derivative fibre that is made from corn while the North Face base camp duffle is made from coated polyester, replacing PVC tarpaulin which generates substantially more toxic emissions during production.
